The Radford Philosophy

Building upon its abundant history and traditions, Radford School has
set a bold course
for the future. For over 95 years Radford School has been recognized
for its excellence
in academic achievement and student development. The overriding philosophy
of
Radford School is to provide a challenging and enriching college preparatory
curriculum
in a small class setting that allows students to develop intellectually
and socially. The
curriculum is designed to foster an enthusiasm for lifelong learning
and an appreciation
for hard work, which are essential to becoming a productive leader of
society. The
observance of school traditions adds an important extra dimension to
the academic
program. Academic excellence, individualized instruction, and personal
development are
emphasized. Radford graduates are prepared for and are strongly encouraged
to attend
college. The school, in every activity, strives to develop character
traits that foster moral
and intellectual growth which help insure that Radford graduates become
productive,
problem-solving citizens, who work toward the betterment of society.
Radford School is a microcosm of a multi-cultural society. Admission
to Radford is based
on past academic performance and capability without regard to religious
creed or
national origin. The Radford experience provides an international exchange
of
knowledge, ideas, customs, and hopes and aspirations because of the multicultural
student body. The Radford student population has included students from
Mexico,
Canada, Kuwait, England, Yugoslavia, Germany, Korea, Aruba, Japan, China,
and
Central, South America, and other areas of the world.
The Board of Directors, the faculty, and the administration of Radford
School direct the resources of the school to insure that Radford is a
citadel of learning. Further, they
facilitate and cultivate academic achievement, a high level of student
aspiration,
individual creativity, and promote a sense of piety, duty, justice, and
temperance. In
addition to the ongoing search for truth, the staff assists students
