Preschool

Full-day pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs are built upon the philosophy that children learn by doing. A normal day is full of varied activities and directed toward stimulating and challenging active young minds through participation in learning centers, including a computer center, that introduces concepts and promotes interaction. Evelopmental Readiness Class (DRC)for students three years old and Pre - Kindergarten for students four years old.

Elementary School

In the Lower School, integrated language arts and math programs help students develop meaningful connections and an understanding of basic concepts within traditional disciplines. Faculty emphasize reading, writing, listening, and oral communication so that students may begin not only to master skills, but also to apply them. The program is augmented with instruction in computer and library skills, physical education, swimming, music, studio art and Spanish (native or non-native).

Middle School

The Middle School program (grades 6, 7 and 8) emphasizes increased writing, math and science skills, and includes instruction in physical education, computers, history, music, studio art and Spanish (native or non-native) is mandatory for all students in grades 2-11.

High School

The High School's rigorous and rewarding academic curriculum, together with a supportive and vigorous guidance program, prepares students for college by providing the highest quality preparation for the most demanding colleges and universities, and by fostering excellence in discipline and independent thinking. The guidance program acculturates students to college admissions and college counseling processes beginning in the freshmen academic year and continuing developmentally through the senior year. Admission representatives from colleges and universities are regular visitors of our campus, and Radford students consistently gain admission to the nation's most selective institutions of higher education, including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Princeton, Boston, Vanderbilt, the University of Chicago, Baylor and William and Mary to name a few. Spanish (native or non-native) is mandatory for all students in grades 2-11.

26 total credits are required, as well asn an independent research project.

Possible credits earned at Radford (including electives) total 26. Fifty community service hours per year are required for graduation.

* Original research project must be completed during the senior year and a) must be judged by a panel of professionals in the field that is the focus of the project; or b) conducted under the direction of mentor(s) and reported to an appropriate audience, and c) must be related to an area of the curriculum above.
